Quality Technician / Quality Engineer - Kaney Aerospace

Role description/summary:
The Quality Technician / Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality standards of Kaney Aerospace in the products produced. This includes developing inspection plans, administering and maintaining the gauge calibration program, and performing inspections.

Major Responsibilities:
• Perform inspections including receiving, in-process, and final;
• Develop Inspection plans and First Article Inspection (FAI) reports;
• Administrate and maintain the gauge calibration program;
• Own the nonconformance, preventive action, and corrective action processes;
• Work with engineering, production, and others as necessary to resolve quality issues;
• Review procedures, make updates when required, and approve per process;
• Support the organization in training individuals or groups;
• Perform / assist in the Internal Auditing process;
• Work with registrar, customer, and third party auditors as required;
• Attain Designated Quality Representative (DQR) status with customers;
• Perform contract reviews as needed;
• Support and lead proactive continuous improvement activities;
• Perform other QA related activities as assigned by the Quality Director

Qualifications / Requirements:
Associates degree in a Quality or Engineering related field or 3-5 years of experience in aerospace machining and/or assembly required, or equivalent combination of both.

Must meet eligibility requirements to access sensitive information, which requires US citizenship.

Experience with AS9100 certification and documentation required.

Must be able to use applied knowledge of root cause and other problem solving methods.

Working knowledge of blueprints and GD&T, and ability to perform to perform dimensional inspections using wide variety of inspection equipment (simple hand-tools to CMM).

Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), strong written and verbal communications skills, excellent phone, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with people at all levels are required.

Six Sigma Green Belt and/or ASQ Certification a plus.

Operational Details:
This is a full-time position in Rockford, Illinois.
