Test Technician (Night shift)

Lancaster, UK

Element has an opportunity for a Test Technician to join its growing team in Lancaster. Element Lancaster is a Nadcap and ISO 17025 accredited laboratory recognised as a centre of excellence for fatigue & fracture mechanics testing and has developed methods and procedures for the machining and testing of aerospace related materials.

Due to exciting expansion within the lab and to support our mission to become the number one supplier within our industry, we are looking for three new Test Technicians to join our team in Lancaster.


Responsibilities:
• Perform testing relating to the specialist capabilities of the laboratory
• Ensuring that test equipment is used in accordance with procedures
• Ensuring that equipment maintenance and routine calibrations are performed on time and in accordance with documented procedures
• Duties may involve assisting in areas of testing outside of routine operation - e.g. other test department
• Performance duties in accordance with procedures, quality system and health and safety system
• Ensuring that Lab Management System worksheet are filled out correctly and in accordance with internal procedures
• Monitor the availability of laboratory consumables
• Perform site testing when required
• Contribute to the improvement in the organisation and efficiency of the workplace by implementing and maintaining agreed 5S actions


Skills & Qualifications
• Good general education including English and Maths
• Experience in a laboratory environment is preferred
• Qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline
• Demonstrable experience in testing of materials
• A broad knowledge with an understanding of materials/materials testing
• An awareness of health & safety systems and environmental regulations
• A basic knowledge of relevant testing standards
• Passion for developing a career in Engineering is essential
• Ability to work effectively alone as well as part of a team
• Excellent attention detail
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
