Test flights of Russia’s new Kamov Ka-52 Alligator all-weather reconnaissance and attack helicopters have begun at Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company (PAAC), a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters. Progress AAC is based in Arsenyev in the Russian Far Eastern Primorsky territory.
An Alligator test flight lasts for approximately an hour on average, and performs basic air maneuvers including ascent, hovering and turn, as well as other maneuvers under PAAC’s flight test program.
The Alligators can perform aerobatic maneuvers: the helicopters’ coaxial rotor system and capable pitch control allow them to efficiently perform such aerial maneuvers as the ‘flat turn’ and ‘circle strafing’, as well as the ‘slalom’.
PAAC intends to boost the production of civil and military helicopters in 2018, with plans to step up manufacturing of the Ka-52 with naval modifications, a new civil multipurpose helicopter, the Ka-62, and the Ka-52 scout-attack helicopter.
