Role Description & Primary Duties
The Certification Engineer – Electrical works as part of the Certification and Airworthiness team, responsible for defining and coordinating certification requirements with internal stakeholders, as well as with regulatory agencies and customers throughout all phases of the certification process. This includes writing certification plans, establishing means of compliance, working with cross-functional teams to align certification plans and deliverables with program plans, contribute to compliance showings by authoring or contributing to analysis reports, test plans, test reports, and other compliance deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities
- Being an integrated part of internal teams, supporting certification activities through:
- Compiling compliance showings including design definition, analysis pedigree, and test plan/reports.
- Guiding internal teams through testing activities, including request for conformity, test conduct, test witnessing, and test reporting to facilitate FAA compliance findings.
- Serve as the liaison between the regulator and the internal teams.
- Support company development and growth by:
- Engaging with the engineering teams to author and implement processes guiding certification activities and design organization development.
- Championing formal and informal training for certification-driven processes.
- Lead engagement with regulators and industry groups
- Interface and manage the relationship with the FAA and other Civil Aviation Authorities.
- Work closely with DERs on establishing current and novel means and methods of compliance, including potential support of industry committee activities to define new standards for novel electrical powertrain systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or in a related engineering discipline with electrical engineering professional experience.
- 7+ years of Certification experience in either electrical/electronics or propulsion within an aerospace company.
- 7+ years of experience with certification testing practices, including test planning/reporting and conformity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Hardworking, dependable, self-directed, and self-disciplined.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Problem-solving, well organized, and detailed oriented.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project experience with Type Certification (TC)/Supplemental Type Certification (STC).
- Strong knowledge of FAA certification procedures (Part 21 and FAA Order 8110.4C) and airworthiness regulations (Part 23, 25, 27, 29, or 33).
- Experience with Engine Type Certification.

This position’s approximate base salary range is $137,000 – $145,000 per year, depending on experience and level of education.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.
