UK-based military aircraft developer Aeralis has launched a European subsidiary in France.
Aeralis is using a digital-first approach to design, develop and build a family of light military aircraft. Its advanced trainer jet features a swept wing design and will provide training for up to 6th generation fighter aircraft pilots.
The basic trainer will be used to train pilots for 3rd or 4th generation combat aircraft and will be powered by a single low-bypass turbofan engine, while the third aircraft would be suitable for acrobatic displays.
Establishing Aeralis France allows the company to benefit from a pan-European civil airworthiness certificate. Aeralis France will collaborate directly with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, developing a program benefiting from a European civil airworthiness certificate and providing AERALIS with access to European export markets.
Tristan Crawford, CEO of Aeralis said, “In these challenging economic times, we’re incredibly excited that Aeralis France will allow aircraft service providers to operate Aeralis’ Aircraft-As-A-Service across Europe more profitably than if using fixed design, military-certified light jets. This strengthens the case for private funding to invest and removes the need for government up-front capital investment.”
The opening of the subsidiary builds on a long history of aerospace and defence collaboration between the United Kingdom and France, illustrated by programmes such as Concorde, Jaguar and MBDA. In anticipation of upcoming opportunities for new Anglo-French collaboration under the Lancaster House Treaty, Aeralis will deliver a flexible light jet system across Europe through an innovative development programme.
This expansion aligns with Aeralis’ vision of becoming a trusted partner for European defence programmes, offering a scalable and cost-effective programme in collaboration with key allies & partners.
