Industrial AI and enterprise software provider IFS has launched the Nexus Black service to quickly develop bespoke AI applications for industrial companies.
The service works by deploying a team of data engineers and scientists from IFS to work with a customer to develop an AI application using the latest technologies.
Aimed at industrial users, including in the aerospace and defense sectors, Nexus Black aims to enable the rapid development and deployment of AI capabilities for tangible outcomes in a matter of weeks, said IFS.
Specifically, Nexus Black offers Agile, sprint-based co-creation and prototyping of applications within a structured four-phase model of problem definition, proof of value, accelerated development and digital continuity. It also offers access to dedicated AI engineers, domain experts, and solution architects, with deep expertise in industrial contexts and enterprise architecture, and collaboration on agentic AI and contextual intelligence with industrial scalability.
Initial use cases include predictive maintenance, manufacturing scheduling optimization, AI copilots for service and sales, and intelligent automation for finance and supply chain.
Speaking at IFS Connect 2025, the company’s customer event, Mark Moffat, CEO of IFS said, “Many businesses want to wave the AI magic wand to solve a challenge or a pain point, but it’s a minefield – AI is changing constantly.
“We will send you data engineers and scientists and UX designers who – within days – will create an application you can deploy. The mantra is prototypes – not PowerPoint.”
The cost of Nexus Black engagements will differ because the consultancy engagements will be bespoke, resource-intensive, and expert-led, said IFS. Customers who wish to use Nexus Black should contact the company for an exploratory discussion.
Moffat added, “Too many businesses are stuck choosing between inflexible enterprise tools or niche AI vendors with no roadmap to scale. Nexus Black changes that.
“This is our commitment to rapid, high-impact AI innovation for leading industrial organizations. It combines the agility of a start-up with the industrial context, security and delivery strength IFS is known for. It’s how we help our customers leap ahead – not just catch up.”
Enterprise software company IFS (Industrial and Financial Systems) was founded in 1983, is headquartered in Linköping, Sweden and employs 7,000 people in 80 countries.
