ATR has received certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency for its ATR 72-600 Full Flight Simulator at its Paris Training Center close to Charles de Gaulle airport.
The brand new simulator was made by TRU Simulation + Training. The ATR 72-600 is an upgraded and more efficient version of the ATR 72–500 series, which entered into service around ten years ago, and is mainly operated by domestic flight airlines
Turboprop manufacturer ATR expects there will be around 1,000 new pilots using its aircraft next year. The new simulator increases ATR’s capacity to offer its customers pilot training programs.
Tom Anderson, senior vice-president of programs and customer services at ATR, said: “This certification represents another step on our journey to constantly develop our offer to our operators.
“As ATR’s worldwide fleet size continues to grow it is logical that there will be an increased demand for ATR pilots. The entry into service of a new ATR 72-600 Full Flight Simulator helps ensure that our customers will be able quickly benefit from training solutions that are easily accessible from their respective bases of operations, which has a genuinely positive impact on their business.”
ATR has five training centers based in Toulouse, Paris, Johannesburg, Singapore and Miami. The latter opened in February 2017 to respond to the increasing presence of ATRs in the Americas. ATR is delivering more than 100,000 training hours per year.
