Barfield, part of the Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) network, has launched a split-screen PDF reader feature for its newly released tablet app specifically designed for its DPS1000/1811NG.
The reader enables the user to open and display a downloaded PDF document, such as the aircraft test procedure or the unit’s instruction manual, while operating the air data testers, so reducing the need to carry paper procedures to the aircraft.
The company has also improved its previously released patented firmware upgrade process of the DPS1000/1811NG from the tablet app. The One-Click firmware upgrade feature streamlines the process and prompts the user to update the PCM and HUIM to the latest version available on the tablet app in a single step.
Lew Wingate, vice president, ground support test equipment and distribution said, “Enhancing customer’s experience and maximizing efficiency remains a priority for Barfield’s Research and Development team.
“Added features, bug fixes and interface changes will continuously keep the DPS1000/1811NG and its tablet app at the forefront of the Air Data tester customer experience, setting it apart from the competition.”
Improvements, have included the visual and audible indication when a test point is reached, the Cabin Pressure test procedure and the Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) alert system. The tablet app connects to the Air Data tester wirelessly and can automatically detect the internal firmware version of the unit. It then proceeds with a quick, simple and seamless upgrade process if the firmware embedded in the DPS1000/1811NG is outdated.
The app comes loaded with the latest firmware and is available to download through Apple App store and Android App store. The RVSM certified DPS1000 and its sister the 1811NG are both user-friendly and perform altimeter and static systems tests and inspections on a wide range of aircraft. Both test sets can be fully operated either from their display touchscreen or from the tablet app.
