China has successfully tested a hypersonic aircraft. The experimental Starry Sky-2 waverider can be seen in this video completing its first test flightat an undisclosed location in northwest China, the China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics said in a statement.
According to the statement, the aircraft launched from a multistage rocket then during independent flight performed extreme turning manoeuvres, maintained velocities above Mach 5.5 for more than 400 seconds, and achieved a top speed of Mach 6, or 7,344 kmph (4,563mph).
